John was born in 1962 and qualified as an Actuary in 1986, having obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics in 1984.

He worked as an Investment Manager prior to establishing Pollock & Galbraith in 1992 and has also lectured at Heriot-Watt University.

John has a PhD in Medical Statistics from Edinburgh University and was involved with the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry.

He has substantial past and current involvement with the actuarial and legal professions, having served as an examiner, on the FT Actuaries Index Committee, the Mortality Investigation Committee, the Damages Committee and the Ogden Working Party. He is a member of the Law Society of Scotland Remuneration Committee.
